Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative - Internal Medicine

Christie Clinic is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative in our Internal Medicine department at our Windsor and St.
Joe clinic.
Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
Duties include greeting clinic patients upon arrival, assisting with the check in process, scheduling appointments, collecting payments and assisting with the checkout or rescheduling process.
They will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.
Duties will also include performance of skills through the delivery of patient care using a systematic patient assessment.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds.
Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.
Requirements include working weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.

JOB DUTIES:

) Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
Provide check-in process for patients.
Verify and update necessary demographic information.
Apply co-payments, as needed.
Maintain provider schedules.
Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area.
Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to appointment.
Clean and restock following appointment.
Assist patient to exam room, take vitals, weight, and height of patient.
Enter information into the electronic medical record.
Maintain and update patient medical record upon visit including allergies, medications, etc.

Flag appropriate room for provider to see patient.
Assist with procedures during appointment.
Perform lab tests, treatments, etc.

Perform related work as required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
